Purpose

This policy outlines the terms and conditions for renting E-bikes from our company, including deposit requirements and return conditions.

Deposit Requirement

  • Deposit Amount: A deposit of $XXX will be charged to the customer’s card at the time of rental.
  • Refund Conditions: The deposit will be released once the E-bike is returned in fully operational condition, moderately clean, and with all included accessories (both keys, charger, and battery) at the designated pick-up/drop-off station.
  • Deposit Forfeiture: The deposit may be partially or fully forfeited if the E-bike is returned with any damaged parts, missing accessories, or if it is not in fully operational condition.

Dust and Water Protection (IP53 Rating)

  • IP53 Rating:
    • The E-bike is designed to handle limited dust ingress and water sprays up to 60 degrees from the vertical.
    • Users must avoid exposing the E-bike to extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain, flooding, or severe dust storms.

Limitations and User Responsibility

  • Weatherproofing Limitations:
    • The E-bike is not 100% weatherproof. Excessive exposure to dust and water beyond IP53 rating may result in damage.
    • Extreme Weather Disclaimer: Use of the E-bike in extreme weather conditions may damage the unit and result in loss of the deposit.
  • User Responsibility:
    • Users take full responsibility for operating the E-bike within the specified protection limits.
    • By signing this policy, users acknowledge understanding and acceptance of these limitations and agree to adhere to the guidelines provided.

Pickup and Diagnostic Confirmation

  • Acknowledgment of Functionality:
    • By picking up the E-bike in person, or through an authorized representative, the user acknowledges that the E-bike was fully functional and operational at the time of pickup.
    • The user or their representative is responsible for performing a full diagnostic check to confirm the E-bike’s condition.
    • Any issues or defects must be reported immediately before leaving the pickup location.

Pre-Assembled Units and Warranty

  • Warranty Limitations for Pre-Assembled Units:
    • By renting a pre-assembled E-bike, users acknowledge that the manufacturer’s warranty is void due to the unit being pre-assembled and no longer sealed.
    • Any subsequent issues or defects are not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, and the user assumes all responsibility for maintenance and repairs.

Return Conditions

  • Condition Requirements:
    • The E-bike must be returned in fully operational condition.
    • Normal wear and tear is accepted, but there should be no significant damage.
    • The E-bike must be moderately clean and returned with all accessories (both keys, charger, and battery).

Customer Responsibilities

  • Usage:
    • Operate the E-bike within the recommended environmental conditions.
    • Avoid using the E-bike in excessively dusty or wet conditions beyond the IP53 rating capabilities.
  • Reporting Issues:
    • Report any issues related to dust or water ingress to our customer service promptly.
    • Follow instructions for repairs as provided.

Company Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all E-bikes meet the IP53 ingress protection rating before rental.
    • Conduct regular audits and quality checks on the production process and materials used.
  • Customer Support:
    • Provide clear instructions on maintenance and care to customers.
    • Offer prompt assistance and repair services for issues related to ingress protection failures under normal use.

Compliance

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Adhere to relevant industry standards and regulations for E-bike safety and ingress protection.
  • Policy Updates:
    • Review and update this policy regularly to reflect changes in technology, standards, or company practices.

Acknowledgment

By signing below, the user acknowledges understanding and acceptance of this policy, including the limitations of the IP53 rating, the voided manufacturer’s warranty for pre-assembled units, their responsibilities in maintaining and operating the E-bike within these guidelines, and the requirement to collect video evidence of the E-bike’s condition upon return. They also acknowledge the deposit terms and conditions.

Our RENTAL program

Yes, we rent our eBikes! Please take a moment to read through this entire page carefully.

Our eBikes are brand new. They are waiting for you in their original packaging. (You can request assembly for a very low $25 fee which covers the cost to dispose of the packing materials in a responsible manner). Many Burners cannot bring their eBikes back to their default life. If you wish to rent the eBike, here are the steps and terms/conditions we request you follow:

  1. Pay the eBike Deposit: Choose “Rent” when selecting your product on the product page. The amount at checkout will be the same.
  2. Schedule your Pickup: after submitting the order, you will receive an email with your receipt and a dedicated link to schedule to eBike pickup time
  3. Schedule your return: you will receive an additional email with a dedicated link to schedule your return. 
  4. Get $150 Refund (for the “Eco” and $200 for the “Premium”): We will refund $150 (for the “Eco”) or $200 (for the “Premium) for any eBike that is in proper working order. The playa is hard on everything, we know. But we cannot accept returns that are broken or missing parts. We request you return it with a charge in the battery so we can test it. Also, please remove all lighting and decorations. We reserve the right not to provide a refund based on our inspection of the eBike. By selecting the “Rental Program,” you agree to allow our on-site team member to be the final decision maker in the assessment.
 
We will keep our ears open to news of how Exodus is going. We understand it can be unpredictable. But if you miss your scheduled day and time, we cannot guarantee we will be there to accept your return. You must keep in touch with us.

All Rentals are non-refundable unless expressed otherwise by Playa eBikes in writing. If you fail to bring your eBike back we will keep the deposit paid.
