Purpose
This policy outlines the ingress protection standards for all E-bikes sold and rented by our company, ensuring they meet the IP53 rating. This rating guarantees a certain level of dust and water protection to maintain the operational integrity and longevity of the E-bikes under typical festival conditions.
Scope
This policy applies to all E-bikes offered for sale or rental by our company. It is designed to assure customers of the durability and reliability of our products in various environmental conditions.
Ingress Protection Standards
Dust Protection (IP53 – Level 5)
- Definition: The E-bike is protected against limited ingress of dust.
- Standard:
- The E-bike is designed and manufactured to allow minimal dust ingress that does not interfere with its normal operation.
- Components are sealed or shielded adequately to prevent damage or malfunctions caused by dust.
- Regular maintenance and cleaning procedures must be strictly followed to ensure dust does not accumulate in critical areas.
Water Protection (IP53 – Level 3)
- Definition: The E-bike is protected against water spraying up to 60 degrees from the vertical.
- Standard:
- The E-bike can withstand water sprays from angles up to 60 degrees from the vertical without sustaining damage.
- Key electronic components and connectors are sealed or designed to repel water to prevent short circuits or corrosion.
- Users must avoid submerging the E-bike in water or exposing it to continuous water jets.
Limitations and User Responsibility
- Weatherproofing Limitations:
- Like other electronics such as smartphones and cameras, these E-bikes are not 100% weatherproof.
- They are designed to handle certain levels of dust and water exposure as defined by the IP53 rating, but excessive exposure beyond these levels may result in damage.
- User Responsibility:
- Users take full responsibility for operating the E-bike within the specified protection limits.
- By signing this policy, users acknowledge understanding and acceptance of these limitations and agree to adhere to the guidelines provided.
- Extreme Weather Disclaimer:
- While the use of the E-bike outdoors is intended, exposure to extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain, flooding, or severe dust storms may damage the unit.
- Any damage resulting from extreme weather exposure will be the user’s responsibility and may result in the loss of the security deposit.
Pickup and Diagnostic Confirmation
- Acknowledgment of Functionality:
- By picking up the E-bike in person, or through an authorized representative, the user acknowledges that the E-bike was fully functional and operational at the time of pickup.
- The user or their representative is responsible for performing a full diagnostic check to confirm the E-bike’s condition.
- Any issues or defects must be reported immediately before leaving the pickup location.
Pre-Assembled Units and Warranty
- Warranty Limitations for Pre-Assembled Units:
- By purchasing a pre-assembled E-bike, users acknowledge that the manufacturer’s warranty is void due to the unit being pre-assembled and no longer sealed.
- Any subsequent issues or defects are not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, and the user assumes all responsibility for maintenance and repairs.
Maintenance and Care Guidelines
- Regular Checks:
- Inspect the E-bike regularly for signs of dust or water ingress.
- Ensure seals and covers are intact and functioning as designed.
- Cleaning Procedures:
- Use a damp cloth to wipe down the E-bike, avoiding direct water application to electronic components.
- Avoid high-pressure water sprays during cleaning.
